The 2011 Taiwan Golf Course Operation and Management Conference will be held on October 17‐18 at National Golf Country Club. On behalf of The Golf Association of The Republic of China, I would like to thank the club owners and professional managers throughout the island to support and attend the session. This grand annual conference, jointly organized by Taiwan Golf Course Association and The GAROC., will now step into its 4th occasion. Each year, the Conference gathers top management of local golf industry for them to share information, resource and exchange opinions. The major purposes are to upgrade the core competence and enhance the global view in order to gear to international standards and advance course management. A new project will be launched this year before the session, which is the Golf Taiwan Festival. It is expected that the general public could know further about the golf industry and those who are inspired would be devoted themselves to the golf sport.

The 2011 program will continue to focus on the topics of the previous years but for in‐depth discussions. Expert lecturers will provide the participants the trend of golf club operations and management and will address the concerns about golf course ecology and environmental issues. The 2011 is the year for promoting golf tourism. The practices to integrate playing golf and tourism in Japan, Korea and China will be introduced. As for clubhouse management, we will focus on membership management and marketing and promote wedding at golf clubs. One other highlight is to learn from the Audubon International, a world‐renowned non‐profit organization for its successfully assisting golf courses in becoming more eco‐friendly. I am convinced that it will once again be a very productive session and all participants could greatly benefit from it.

Finally, I wish the Conference a wonderful success.
